Hope For Brain Injury
Hope For Head Injury, Coma and Traumatic Brain InjuryI Know Where You’ll Stay
The day my brother arrived at Geisinger Medical Center, our family was in the waiting room of the Intensive Care Unit discussing where we could stay overnight. My mom had no idea what she would do, and was contemplating just spending the night in the waiting room. A stranger in the room perked up and said, “I know where you’ll stay!”
This kind stranger proceeded to tell us about a big house with many rooms that is right on the hospital premises, called House of Care. It’s managed by a minister who is in a wheelchair and lives there full-time. It only costs $15.00 per night. It has two kitchens stocked with food that guests are welcome to consume, and a shuttle-bus that takes you anywhere you need to go on the hospital grounds. Our family has been very grateful for House of Care.
And, as my mother went to settle her bill for House of Care, she was told by their manager that she had no charges due. Someone had anonymously paid for her entire five-week stay.
