Hope For Brain Injury
Hope For Head Injury, Coma and Traumatic Brain InjuryLead To The Door
My mother and I were perusing the local paper one Sunday morning in Danville to find a place of worship. We decided on a destination and headed on our way. We were merely a half-mile from the hospital when we realized that time had deluded us, and we were running very late. Just as we discovered this, my mom noticed a church on the left. The sign said in big bold letters, “10:30 a.m. Service.” The clock in my car read “10:32.” It took only a few words between us to decide that’s where we would attend.
As soon as we arrived, we placed a prayer request for Harold. After the service, my mother wanted to thank the minister for remembering my brother in prayer. She told him why she was in Danville, and where she lived. The minister got a big smile on his face and asked her if she’d ever attended Atglen Presbyterian Church. She acknowledged that she’d been there more than once, and he replied that he’d been the minister there for eleven years. He had lived only a few miles from our family for many years.
My mother and I were dumbfounded. Not only were we surprised by the minister’s statements, but at the very time all of this was happening, walking toward us was one of my brother’s dear friends. In fact, this friend had planned to be riding along with Harold at the time of the accident, but had a change in his schedule and had to travel separately. This gentleman had gotten word of the accident, and we soon learned that he had attended this minister’s church back home for eleven years, and had decided to pay a visit to his dear friend and former minister before heading over to the hospital to see my brother.
We instantly made plans to gather at the hospital immediately following the service. We greatly enjoyed our visit together at the hospital, and the minister has since returned to the hospital to visit Harold. We feel right at home attending Sunday worship services there now, and Harold has since been added to their prayer list.
